6 Amazing Things To Do in Ubud

October 3, 2022

Located between lush green rice paddies lies beautiful Ubud. The town has become one of the popular ones in Bali – especially because of the stunning nature, wildlife, and Balinese culture. There are a lot of things to do in Ubud and everyone spends their time in the town differently. Below we have made a list of 6 amazing things to do when you are in Ubud.

1. Monkey Forest

A big must-do in Ubud is visiting the Monkey Forest. In the heart of Ubud, you will find this amazing forest with wild monkeys roaming around. It’s a beautiful forest and a perfect way to escape the busy streets of Ubud. Watching the monkeys in their natural habitat should be on top of your bucket list.

2. Go on a temple run

Ubud is filled with beautiful temples, which are all worth visits. Below you can find our three favorite temples from our visit to stunning Ubud.

Pura Tirta Empul

Pura Tirta Empul is a very holy temple in Bali. The temple has 2 pools in which both locals and tourists can clean themselves in holy and purifying water. The process starts from the left and ends on the right side of the pools. It’s an amazing experience where you get to watch the Balinese culture up close.

Pura Gunung Kawi

A visit to Pura Gunung Kawi is a perfect way to experience ancient Bali. A very long time ago the Balinese people carved houses and temples out of rocks because they didn’t know how to build them. At Pura Gunung Kawi you can experience these amazing carved temples. The walk to the temples is beautiful with surrounding rice fields.

Ubud Palace

Right in the middle of Ubud is Saraswati Temple – also known as Ubud Water Palace. This is a stunning temple with bright colors, water, and lotus water flowers. If you visit during the night you might be lucky enough to experience a dance performance by the locals.

3. Tegalalang Rice Terraces

One of the most popular things to do when in Ubud is to visit Tegalalang Rice Terraces.  The view overlooking the rice fields is incredible. And a visit to this place is a perfect way to start your day. And definitely, a must-do when in Bali.

5. Visit a Coffee and Tea Plantation

When in Ubud you should visit one of the local coffee and tea plantations. It’s a cool way to get to know more about the Balinese culture, their work, as well as plant life. End your visit with stunning views overlooking valleys, sipping coffee and tea.

6. Local Market

When in Ubud you should visit the local market. It’s a very good way to experience the everyday life of the Balinese people. Every day you will find the market at the center of the town. The market is divided into two. From 3:00 to 8:00 you can walk through the traditional market with meat and vegetables. Around 9:00 the market is changed into an art market. During this you can buy almost everything; handbags, souvenirs, decorations – you name it.
